Japanese artist Yasuo Sumi, a former member of the seminal Gutai art group, died of pneumonia on October 12. He was 90 years old.

Korean Painter Chun Kyung-Ja Dies at 91

Palestinian artist-duo Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme, who investigate fact versus fiction through mixed-media installations and live performances, have been awarded the 2016 Abraaj Group Art Prize (AGAP), the Abraaj Group announced on October 13. 

On October 5, West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) made the surprise announcement that its executive director of M+, Lars Nittve, has chosen not to renew his contract when it expires in January 2016.
